Dim Screen or No Picture
Is your laptop screen dim or has no picture?
Loss of laptop screen picture can commonly occur when the backlight (inverter) fails. The inverter provides a strong backlight to the screen which in effect provides a light behind the screen which allows you to see the normal desktop.
When you switch the laptop on, if you can see a very faint image on the screen, sometimes it helps to do this in a darkened room and shine a light on the screen to see if any images can be seen (click the image on the right to see an example of this), then the most common cause is an inverter fault - this can be replaced inexpensively and won’t require a replacement screen.
If you can’t see any image at all then this could be caused by a number of faults, from a faulty screen, graphics fault, memory, display cable, etc, the causes are many. Our experienced engineers will quickly diagnose the fault for you and contact you to advise of the fault cause - we always quote before carrying out repairs and our no fix, no fee means no cost to you if you decide not to proceed.
